So, it’s December already. I didn’t realize until I saw Joyce’s instagram yesterday, stating it’s December.. . Time flies. 11 months and 1 day just gone like that. I’ve never felt a year is going to end this soon. Maybe I’m too occupied with many things and I guess too much craps for the month of November. I hope those craps stay at the past.. just stay there and don’t ever follow me ever again.
And it’s the love month again. Can you feel the December loves spreading around the world? Have you got your Christmas tree setup? Have you bought Christmas presents for your loved ones? Have you received any Christmas present yet? Happy posts coming up next. Hehehe.
So, somewhere end of last month, which is like few days ago. We went to the famous eatery place in Kuching – Tom’s at Jalan Padungan Kuching for some happy input. After hearing so many good reviews at this restaurant and after going there few times for the desserts, tea and coffee, it’s time to try on their main dishes.
My Hot Chocolate @ RM6.90. I was expecting something more than just normal chocolate drink, maybe similar to Hilton’s Signature Hot Chocolate.. but hmm.. okay.. at least the art on top on the hot chocolate made a difference and made me happy.
White Coffee @ RM6.50 .. Sin was expecting to wow about the coffee at Tom’s .. but in reality, you just have to finish drinking that cup of coffee that you ordered because you ordered.
We ordered Broccoli Soup but few minutes later, they came back to us saying it was out of stock. So we changed to the legendary nice Mushroom Soup @ RM15.00.. but if you’ve tried Sidewalk’s, this is.. just a watery mushroom soup with many ingredients for you to see and eat.
Calamari @ RM16.00 . Disappointing I must say. I miss the best SwankySarah’s Grilled Calamari that came with a great nyonya dip.
Fish Aglio Olio @ RM38.00 . A bit too oily and too salty for my liking.. and the 2 pieces of fish, . Maybe we should’ve ordered Seafood Aglio Olio instead. Overpriced plate of food I must say.
Rainbow Cake @ RM12.75. I remember I had my first at Trio Cafe, near Renee Hotel, opposite waterfront. It was the best cake ever. I overheard the staff made a phone call to Tom’s to restock this cake.. and what do you think I will do? How can I not try it at Tom’s right? We saw the last 2 pieces on the shelf. So, we ordered one.. and it was sticky. Sticky not fresh cake. Oh Tom’s.. how can you do this to us?
Is it me, or is the the food industries and the attitude of people in Kuching that made the whole dining experience bad?
Yesterday’s dining experience in Kuching.
Case #1 at Kenny Rogers Roasters, Boulevard Shopping Mall Kuching.
You know, normally at this kind of restaurant, there will be someone waiting at the main door, to bring you to your seat. Nevermind about that. Knowing Kuching style. So we just walked in to the restaurant and get ourselves a table. When we wanted to order, we waved at the KRR crew but they didn’t come to us immediately although they saw us and there were not many people in the restaurant. Fine. So, we placed our order. Muffin was served. Coffee was served. Food was served. Soup and my Sarsi were no where to be seen. I thought soup and drink should be served first before our main dish. Nevermind. We reminded the staff about our drink – Sarsi. It took them a while to serve it. All they have to do is just to grab a glass and got it from the machine. As simple as that but I don’t know what they were up to.. but we waited for it and they served us with strawberry. When we told them that we ordered Sarsi, the waiter said – Your order said it’s Strawberry. We insisted for a Sarsi instead and hence we were served this glass of Sarsi.
and when we asked about our soup, for two times, two different crew.. and we were served this bowl. Like seriously? You served us your soup like this?
Dear KRR, this is definitely not a good experience.
Case #2 at Secret Recipe, Jalan Song – opposite CityONE Megamall.
Me: Yes. Give me one slice please.
and guess what reply I got from them?!!
SR staff: One slice we don’t have. One whole cake we have.
You say real real?!
