Exploring Luang Prabang, Laos (Day3)
Wahahaha.. I know I know.. *ahem* It was almost a month ago I posted my Adventurous Laos Day1 & Day2.. So, here’s what we did on the 3rd day we were at Laos, exploring Luang Prabang.
JiunJie is ready ![]()

The-camera-alert Woei Kee

Since there is no breakfast provided by our place, we went out to hunt for food.. and we stopped at Joma Bakery Cafe.

and Wow.. they have branches at:-
Hanoi, Vietnam:
#22, Ly Quoc Su, Hoam Kiem
#54, To Ngoc Van, Tay Ho
Vientiane, Laos:
- near Nam Phou, downtown
- Phonthan Road (near watertower)

and also the one we were at in Luang Prabang is on the main street, near post office and it began operation this year. Lucky us
Don’t be fooled by not-delicious-looking pizza pic.

These pizza are actually very very nice.

Everyone was looking at the very colorful blackboard price lists on what to order.

Aiyer.. Sexy pieces of art hanging on the wall.

Breakfast ordered.

#1: Raisin Twist @ 12,000kip = about RM4.80

#2: Roasted Garlic & Potato Soup @ 18,000kip = about RM7.20

#3: Breakfast Burrito @ 26,000kip = about RM10.40

JiunJie & Shirley’s amounted 56,000kip, which is about RM22.40

Since this place is a bit expensive for budget travellers, we ordered a bit here and there and share among ourselves. Shall hunt for local food later.
#4: Bagel & Egger @ 26,000kip

Not sure if we were hungry that time or.. this Bagel & Egger is really nice ![]()

One good thing about here is that they accept other currencies, like USD and THB.

#5: Pizza Pepperoni @ 21,000kip

#6: Coffee @ 16,000kip, about RM6.40 ler.. but it is refillable, as many times as you want.. and *ahem*.. Since this glass of Kopi O is so expensive, Woei Kee shared it with us and got it refilled ![]()

Shirley enjoys her American breakfast in Joma ![]()

Our total damage for breakfast at Joma Bakery Cafe was 145,000kip O.O

Group picha of us in Joma Bakery Cafe, where Shirley and I trying to do the love shape but failed big time ![]()

More group picha with my GreenBein, which has wide angle.. hohoho..

I didn’t read this article, but somehow.. the huge words – A Slice Of Heaven, reminds me of Rachel ![]()

So, after we’ve done with our first round of food in the morning, we went to explore the city.. and this signboard caught our attention. “Please Cover Your Body. No Bare Chests. No Bikini Tops.”

We went into the alley next to Joma Bakery Cafe.. and noticed that there were actually many more guesthouses along this alley.

Everyone’s hyper after breakfast ![]()

If you’re not on a budget trip, you can always opt to stay at New Daraphet Villa. I believe it’s air-conditioned and they got pretty good service.

Tourists looking at the menu. I guess they were looking for place for breakfast.

Wow !!

and guess what. This Oudom Souk Guest House, the room is air-conditioned.. with 2 single beds, a tv and own bathroom costs only 40,000kip per head !!! and SpicyLao charged us 35,000kip for dome for 8person, fans and open shared bathroom.

We were so going to move here the next day.. Hohoho. So take pics sin.

Walked along other alleys to check on other guesthouse ![]()

Camwhore pic to annoy you all ![]()

Along the alley, we bumped into this little cutie.

He had hard time stabilize himself.

and we were being evil, we didn’t help him.. but to take pics of him ![]()

Correction: Not WE, but THEM, my evil friends ![]()

LOL !! Look at that Woei Kee.. Very camera-alert ![]()

Wahahaha !! Love my camera ![]()

Everywhere I go, I snap ![]()

and.. what’s even better than to have cold drinks to chill ourselves ![]()

with Fruit Shake at standard price of 5,000kip per glass. That’s only like RM2 per glass. Dai dou lang lor !!

Eeeeee.. what’s Woei Kee pointing at?

Poor 山猪.. Wild boar ![]()

The posers !!

Now.. What’s this??

The local ladies are very hardworking. Most of the places, especially the food and drinks stalls are operated by the ladies. Where are the men?

The camera-alert duo ![]()

See.. who is looking at the camera again ![]()

and again..

The locals’ mini kitchen and they use charcoal to cook.

They were shy when they see me snapping pics of them.

Why is there a hole in each of their red brick?

and while walking.. we accidentally found Lao Lao Garden that we wanted to go the previous night ![]()

Forever ready and smile to the camera.

Hahaha.. funny when I look at myself ![]()

Drink Like A Fish, For A Price of Water..

Alcohol drinks for alcoholics like… Woei Kee ![]()

A little message from SimplyLao. I love it how the locals write English. It’s very entertaining at times ![]()

This is how the Lao Lao Garden looks like during day time.

Woei Kee got ignored by See Mun and Jiun Jie.. hahahaha !! They love my camera more than they like yours ![]()

When I said 123.. I don’t mean.. Oneeeee.. Twoooo… Threeeeee then snap.. These evil travelmates of mine know how fast my 123 is.. so they’re always prepared.. except Shirley too slow for my camera this time ![]()

Not knowing where we were heading to. Just walk, snap and enjoy. ![]()

Little landslides but it’s very common here.. So the locals are used to it..

The guys brought all the running tees to Laos ![]()

There are houses on top there !!

Girl selling souvenirs.

Kelson tried to bargain with her.

Tip: If you think the price is not what you want, just say NO firmly to the seller.. else you’ll be bugged all the way till you might need to run 10km to avoid her. Hey. I’m not kidding. Kelson was bugged by this young girl from the staircase till few streets away ler.. till See Mun or Shirley suggested to him to run 10km and he’ll be free.
Stories of the Mekong.

Woei Kee joined the locals for some fun.

Cute little kid.

It’s time to say ByeBye to SpicyLaos Backpackers. We had fun. But we wanna explore more at the other side ![]()

The backpackers ~

One, two, three, four, five, six.. Eh.. how come got extra one? ![]()

Woei Kee is smarter for bringing a trolley bag ![]()

Our new room. Hohoho.. The four singles in one room. Air conditioned, with attached bathroom for only 40,000kip per pax. So much more convenient and so cooling compared to SpicyLaos. But this is not the one with TV that I mentioned earlier on. But still.. we love it. Can even dry our clothes out there ler..:D

But something bad happened to my GreenBein
I was cameraless after that ![]()

My Sony DSC-TX5 becomes a vibrator
It was hot. I didn’t know what I should do with it
Went to google and was shocked to know that this is actually very common for Sony’s camera. All I need to do is to bring over to Sony Centre and tell them the problem.. and they’ll put greese on it. But I’m in Laos. Where to find Sony Centre

Nice post.
Have you try authentic Laos’ food? Only available in one hotel restaurant in Vientiane. Eh, I thought Mekong River was much cleaner the last time I went there. Maybe can only see everything clean in Vientiane. I never been to Luang Prabang. Understand that place is backpacker’s heaven with a long of hiking and traveling; as well as things there are a bit pricey than Vientiane. I might be going there someday. UNESCO World Heritage Site, who don’t want to go-leh.
You should try Vientiane one day. You won’t regret it.
