Must Eat Food In Kuching: Oriental Park

I was away in Penang over the weekend and Malaysia Day and another day of AL. This trip is more like a makanthon trip than a visiting trip because parents have been to few tourists places in Penang many many years ago when they visited Penang.

So.. It was not easy to plan a trip for them.. Thanks to all the online info that we’ve got, we managed to find few famous local places to eat. I shall blog about that later when I retrieved the pictures from my EPL5 and Note2.. haha.. for now, I shall introduce this place, a must visit eating place in Kuching, the Oriental Park.

It was the Sarawak Regatta Sunday that we went to hunt for this eating place and only at that time that I realized the left side of my pair of Converse shoes that I bought from Bali trip was torn. I’ve no idea how and when it was torn. As a fussy girl for shoes, I’m thinking of shopping online at Zalora and getting myself a new pair of Playboy Bunny white-pink shoes here.

It wasn’t easy to find this place if you’re not familiar with Kuching roads, though Kuching is small, but the roads are even smaller for you to discover this place. Hahaha.. okay, it might just be me cos I never actually read the road signs and I seldom remember the road names because I think I’m a true Kuchingite but I’m wrong. HAHAHA!! But mistakes sometimes can bring you to find another good eating place, like Nam Sen Cafe.

I’ve heard of this place from MiaoJian and also from MiaoNa when she was back in hometown and coincidentally I was away from Kuching. T____T We had no fate for 3 times already. Anyways, this is truly Authentic / Traditional Kolo Mee that one must try. My first time eating this after living in this world for XX 18 years. HAHAHA !!

CharSio aka CharSiew barbequed with charcoal that made the taste truly different from others.

Because I studied before I visited this place, When I made order, somehow, I sixth sense that I should order Mee Pok with Charsiew Oil (Red Mee Pok, in short) I don’t normally eat Kolo Mee or Kolo Mee Pok if you see my instagram, you’ll know that I would prefer Kolo Beehoon over all those noodles. It was indeed the right decision. This Red Mee Pok is so AWESOME.

Sin, ordered the normal Kolo Mee so we can do comparison.. and I shall advise those who wanna try the noodles here, you should order your noodles with red because it is just too awesome, just like the Penang CKT at Jalan Siam. Hahahaha.

The secret recipe could be this.

As for the location, it would be easier if you know Cathay Cinema in Kuching.

If you don’t know, then I cannot help you lor try to google or Waze for Jalan Market. It will lead you to somewhere very near to Oriental Park.

Nice, we can find some Kolo Mee here in Penang too, noodles are authentic but not the dish as a whole, as i was told that the owner was trying to localize the dish as many found kolo mee too oily for Penangites :)

@ken_tho:disqus : I saw Sarawak Kolo Mee at one of the food courts in Penang few days ago.. didn’t try them though cos I was there for Penang food.. hahaha..

I find Penang CKT is more oily than the kolo mee wor.. hahaha.. maybe it’s the person who is doing the kolo mee at Penang that put too much oil? >.<

Yup! Where got good kolo mee oily one? That one probably could not make it in Kuching, no business… went and bluff Penang people lah.

I had the kolo mee here before the place was burnt – very nice, among the best, if not the best in Kuching. Now they’ve restored the place and resumed business, I hear…

I don’t think I’ve been there. I shall try it one day.

@willieest:disqus : Yes you should. It would be easier if you use Bike to go there instead of car. not easy to find parking if you’re there after 9am.
